Former Australian cricketer Ian Chapel I believed uk will be a strong opponent Ashes 2025-26 If the key factors are aligned in their favour, the series will go ahead. According to Chappell, England have the tools to challenge Australia on home turf, but they will have to come together and deliver.

The historic Ashes rivalry between England and Australia

Ben Stokes‘ England will face Australia in the much-anticipated Ashes Test series in 2025. After a thrilling 2-2 draw in England in 2023, Stokes and his team are determined to reclaim the Ashes trophy that Australia have held since 2015. The last two Ashes series on English soil ended in a 2-2 draw, but Australia have enjoyed home advantage. Since 2015, Australia have won both home series, both by a resounding 4-0 score. The upcoming Ashes in 2025, to be held in Australia, will be a huge challenge for England. Considering England’s recent performances in Tests in Australia, Stokes faces a huge task in his quest to bring the Ashes back home.

Ian Chappell’s list of England players who could challenge Australia

Chappell praised England’s powerful and aggressive batting line-up in his column for ESPNCricinfo. He highlighted the contribution of the team’s newest batting sensation. Jamie SmithHe was a standout performer in the Test series against West Indies. Chappell also Jack Crowley and Harry Brook Aggressive play, experience and reliability Joe RootEngland’s No. 1 batsman. Chappell believed that if these players could attack together, they could pose a serious threat to Australia.

“England have an aggressive batting line-up and have strengthened it with the inclusion of a solid wicketkeeper-batsman in Jamie Smith. The players who could worry Australia are Joe Root’s pure ability and Jack Crawley and Harry Brook’s aggression and ability to score runs quickly. Stokes, if he can get his batting form back, would fall into that category, especially as he bowls again and takes important wickets.” Chapel wrote.

Important Concerns

Chappell highlighted England’s powerful pace attack, saying: Gus Atkinson And fit Jofra Archer. He stressed that this powerful combination could pose a serious challenge to the Australian batsmen. But Chappell also pointed out a major concern for England, namely that they have struggled to get the lower-order batsmen out quickly and have conceded significant runs.

“Selecting the right type of players is essential to success in Australia. But the only way England can win a tough series is if their fast bowlers perform well and take their chances. A strong England team touring Australia should include a fit Atkinson, Wood and hopefully Jofra Archer to ensure the seam bowlers are complemented by fast bowlers. Australia’s batting is fragile, especially without the attacking opening talent of David Warner.” The 80-year-old man added.

“Apart from being good at catching, England need to learn how to deal with the lower order cheaply. Despite having a superb batsman captain who is a good leader for the Australian tour, England’s record against lower-order batsmen has often been poor.” The chapel concluded.
