Insider reports that the 1-star QB’s contract extension is “almost” complete.

The Green Bay Packers want to get their franchise quarterback on the practice field.

Jordan Love is clearly the most important piece of this puzzle, so they’ll be rushing to get a deal done quickly.

Fortunately, it looks like that’s about to happen.

According to a report from ProFootballTalk, both parties are very close and optimistic about a contract extension.

GM Brian Gutekunst has talked about his desire to sign Love all offseason, so it’s somewhat surprising that it’s taken this long for a deal to happen.

It may also have been a bit disappointing for the organization that Love decided to give up.

The Packers front office took some flak for drafting him in the first round and then signing him to a reasonable extension before he could prove he was an NFL-caliber player.

This is the ruthless and brutal nature of the business side of sports, and it is becoming increasingly common to see athletes threatening to refuse to do what they are being paid to do.

The Packers are a potential contender for a Super Bowl appearance this season, and Love has shown plenty of promise in his first season as a starter.

Now he must prove that last season’s success was no fluke, and that he should not act rashly just because he was paid.
