IM-2 mission of low lunar track
Intuitive machine
Athena Lander of an intuitive machine made it on the moon, but it seems to fall. Render is still in operation, but it’s not yet clear what missions they can do.
The spacecraft launched the SPACEX FALCON 9 Rocket on February 27 at the Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in NASA in Cape Canaveral, Florida. It landed on March 6, but the landing was not completely successful, and the exact location or direction of the moon surface is still unclear.
Intuitive Machine CEO said, “We do not believe we have the right attitude on the surface of the moon. Stephen Altemus At the press conference immediately after landing. This is the result of the company’s last attempt to land on the moon, an Odysseus spaceship. This is the first time a private company has landed a spaceship on the moon’s surface, but it fell sideways and could not send a lot of data again.
Athena has a variety of scientific organizations, but perhaps the most important is probably Regolith and Ice Drill to explore a new terrain, a NASA experiment designed to penetrate up to 1 meter through the lunar soil. We take samples from the basement to analyze the contents to find water ice and other compounds.
“This experiment is an important milestone because it will be the first robot drilling activity performed in the Antarctic region of the moon.” Jacqueline Quinn At KSC at the press conference on February 25. If Trident still works, “It is an important step to understand and use lunar resources to support future exploration,” she said.
As part of the IM-2 mission, Athena took several rovers to the moon. One of them is the nickname Grace after the computer scientist and mathematician, Grace Hopper, and is designed to jump up to 100 meters into the air and travel around 200 meters, unlike the previous Rover. Grace is to explore the crater with strange and permanently shadows of the moon.
Athena’s operators were able to send a craft order to turn on and off the scientific payload, and to link some data back to Earth. The solar panel is also functioning to charge Lander’s electronics. Altemus seems to be good news, but the team is still trying to grasp any of the instruments that can achieve some of the scientific goals, Altemus said.
This is part of a wider promotion to increase the moon’s exploration to prepare for the planned human mission for the next 10 years. Blue Ghost Lander of Firefly Aerospace made the moon on March 2 and the elastic render of Japanese company ISPACE is on the way.
