Looking at new opportunities
Ishan Kishan will represent Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2025 after being sold for ₹11.25 crore. This is a 26% pay cut from the ₹15.25 crore he earned from Mumbai Indians in 2022. Mumbai Indians started the bidding at ₹2 crore but stopped at ₹3.20 crore during the auction. Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings engaged in a bidding war, but SRH came on board late to secure him.
Kishan, known for his explosive batting, has been with the Mumbai Indians since the 2016 IPL season. He had his best IPL season in 2020, scoring 516 runs at an average of 57.33. Recently, he lost his place in the Indian national team on a central contract due to poor form. However, he has worked hard in domestic cricket and represented India A against Australia A in the recent match.
Mumbai Indians retained Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Rohit Sharma and Tilak Varma in place of Kishan. Sunrisers Hyderabad hope his addition will strengthen their batting line-up for the upcoming season.
