A foreign activist with American citizenship was shot and killed by Israeli occupation forces on Friday in the town of Beita, Nablus Province, in the northern part of Jordan’s West Bank.
Fuad Nafaa, director of Lapidia Government Hospital, said an American citizen arrived at the hospital with a gunshot wound to the head and she was resuscitated but died.
Witnesses said Israeli occupation forces fired live rounds at Palestinians taking part in a protest against settlements on Mount Sabih in the town of Beita, south of Nablus.
In contrast, the official Palestinian News Agency (WAFA) reported that the activist is a US citizen and volunteers with the “Faz’a” campaign, which supports and protects Palestinian farmers from encroachments by occupying forces and settlers.
Beita residents march weekly after Friday prayers to denounce Israeli settlements and demand the withdrawal of the Abitar settlement on top of Mount Sabi.
In response, the Turkish Foreign Ministry condemned the killings of Turkish citizens in the West Bank by Israeli occupation forces and stressed that Israeli officials and those supporting them must be held accountable in international courts.
“We learn with great sadness that our citizen Aisha Noor Ezgi Ezi was killed by Israeli occupation forces in the West Bank city of Nablus,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The statement mourned the death of a Turkish citizen, saying: “We condemn the murder committed by the Netanyahu government, ask God for mercy on our citizen who lost his life, and offer our condolences to her family.”
The statement warned that Israel was trying to intimidate those who help Palestinians and fight peacefully against genocide, and that such violent policies would not lead to results.
The statement stressed that Israeli officials are committing crimes against humanity and that those who unconditionally support them will be held accountable in international courts.
Since the war in the Gaza Strip began on October 7, Israeli occupation forces and settlers have escalated attacks on Palestinians and their property in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem.
According to official Palestinian figures, during these attacks the army and settlers killed at least 691 Palestinians and wounded more than 5,700, while the army arrested more than 10,400.
