Ivan Juric discusses Rome’s dependence on Paulo Dybala.

Roma coach Ivan Juric has taken time to reflect on the impact Paulo Dybala has had on the team and how the Giallorossi have become too reliant on him.

After deciding to leave Dybala on the bench for the entire match against Venice yesterday, Juric explained his choice in his post-match press conference.

“He’s fine. All tests were negative. But we don’t want to take any risks,” he said. “We made a decision and came to the conclusion that he is too important for us. The season is still long and we did not use him today.”

“He is a special person and a special player. In my opinion, to improve Roma in his absence we need to work on the game plan, style of play, passing, and understand exactly where we position ourselves in order to have better circulation and increase the speed of the ball. ”

“When he’s there, at certain moments in the game, it’s better to let him do that. Because he has a way of making teams play impressively. No need to tell him to stay here or there. Because he does things on his own and he does it with logic.”

“I think we have to work a lot on positioning, positioning, with other players to win the ball back and provide continuity in the game. “You have to get used to both playing with him and playing without him.”

“I think there can be a lot of improvement in creating our own game. We did very well in the first two games, we did a little less well today, but all the foundations are in place.”
