“I am very sad and disappointed. Sinner began experiencing symptoms on Monday evening after a week of practice in Monaco. The PIF ATP No. 1 consulted his team of doctors and was strongly advised to withdraw.
“As I said, this is disappointing for me and I hope to be able to compete at the Olympics in the future. I was looking forward to competing with my teammates and the Italian team, but for now I guess I will have to wait,” Sinner said. “Following the advice of my medical team, I will now take some time to rest and fully recover. I wish the entire Italian team all the best for this important event and I hope to come back stronger in the future.”
