The Jets added depth to their defensive line on Thursday, signing defensive end Takk McKinley.

McKinley, 28, attended the Jets’ minicamp as a tryout this week and did enough to seal the deal.

McKinley was a first-round pick of the Falcons in 2017.

Jets defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich was Atlanta’s linebackers coach at the time.

McKinley remained with the team until November 2020, when he was waived.

He played in 11 games for the Browns in 2021 and four games for the Rams in 2022.

He was with the Cowboys last offseason but did not play a game for them.

McKinley has 98 tackles, 20 sacks, three forced fumbles and a fumble recovery in 64 career games.

The Jets announced that players will begin training camp on July 23, with the team’s first practice on July 24.

The first practice open to fans is July 27th.

They will also hold open practices on July 30, August 3, August 7, August 13, and August 20.

In addition, an open joint exercise with commanders will be held on August 8th.

The joint practice with the Giants on August 21st will be held only for season ticket holders.
