Jonathan Kuminga: ‘My door is not open yet. It will be open someday’

So what if a deal isn’t reached by the Oct. 31 deadline and he becomes a restricted free agent next summer? “I haven’t really gotten into that,” Kuminga said. “I don’t want to get off track. I’m focused on how I can be great. How can I help something? The better I play, the more I do, everything will open up. So I don’t worry about that, because I know who I am, who I am. At the end of the day, it’s just an opportunity. It’s an opportunity to go out there and prove myself. And I’m just waiting for that moment. It’s God’s plan, so I don’t stagger or think about it every day. When it happens, it’s going to happen. “Everybody gets their own time when God opens the door. My doors aren’t open yet. They will open someday. I know they will open soon or sooner or later. When I see what other people are getting or doing or having, it slows me down. So I don’t try to slow down. I just try to keep doing what I’ve always done, you know?”
