According to Romania coach Edward Iordanescu, Belgium are “the perfect team”.

The Red Devils finally earned a point in Group E of Euro 2024 in Cologne on Saturday night, beating their opponents 2-0.

It was a good response from Kevin De Bruyne and his teammates after losing the opening match against Slovakia.

Youri Tielemans got off to a stellar start, scoring after just one minute.

Afterwards, an open battle took place, but Belgium struck the decisive blow in the second half by scoring the first goal.

He got behind the goal kick and easily beat the goalkeeper to double Belgium’s advantage.

It was a close match against Romania, but according to the coach, it was still not enough to win.

In a post-match interview he said: “They are a team with a lot of quality. They have speed, explosiveness and power.

“They are a complete team. They are candidates to win the title.

“We never gave up and fought very hard. We were better in the second half.

“With some luck we could have gotten the point. We had a chance to equalize.

“It was top notch in terms of challenge.

“We started the tournament well. Now let’s see how we deal with difficulties. We need solidarity and unity.

“I will analyze it a lot with the team. In this game, unlike the first game, there were a lot of duels.

“We had a chance. We will always try and get better and try and improve for the third game. “I have full confidence in our team,” he said.

Romania goes into their final match against Slovakia knowing that a win will advance them to the knockout stages.

All three teams in Group E occupy three points, but Iordanescu is confident his side have what it takes to get the job done.

He added, “We will take all possible measures to respond.” [against Slovakia].

“All the players that came off the bench today were attacking players, but that wasn’t enough.

“We had to try not to give too much away, but this team has been undefeated for quite some time.

“We had to fight for every ball. “We lost a few duels, but we have what it takes to get out of this situation.”
