Jungalow Pop-up – Creation Process

Sometimes, as a creator, you sense something. You can see, feel and hear things that others cannot see. Bringing these things to life in a way that others can see, feel, hear, smell and taste is part of the magic and the struggle of creativity. As those of you who have been coming here for a long time know, Jeonggalo is a brand that was born from a blog. Jungalow has been a digital-first brand from the beginning, but I’ve always dreamed of bringing Jungalow into the real (offline) world. I imagined a space where we could connect as a community, create together, inspire one another, and embrace each other (especially after experiencing the isolation of the pandemic). For years I have been looking for a physical location for the Jungalow IRL space. Then, at the end of 2022, I talked to my brother Shai, the co-owner. floor bed, located on Melrose Ave in West Hollywood. I asked what Bottom Bunk does on the second floor (the store is on the first floor) and they said they sometimes rent it out for events. Sometimes, right? My wheels started turning! That was the first moment I imagined a Jungalow pop-up in the “top bunk” (haha!) of my brother’s business in Los Angeles. We had our first meeting with the other co-owners of Bottom Bunk in February, ironed out the details in a matter of weeks, and started construction in May!

We worked with Jeff, Sue and their amazing team. FTB design Building out. FTB has a lot of experience in set design, so they are used to very fast TV production schedules and were not intimidated by the ambitious schedule we had in mind (getting into the space on May 15th and completing construction by early June).

I also worked with my sister, Faith Blakeney, he is an amazing interior designer who pays attention to detail like no other! We created a mood board together, chose paint colors and flooring, and thought of various architectural details we could add to the space, and honestly, FTB executed our vision beautifully! And fun fact: Faith also designed the Bottom Bunk!!! So it’s really a family affair here!

Because we’re on the second floor, we knew we wanted to attract people as soon as we opened the pop-up doors. Although it has been released only a few days ago, this stair case has tigris The print (larger scale) seems to be a crowd favorite on social (thanks to everyone for the #jungalowpopup!!!).

And let’s talk about these stripes. And this grid?! I feel like I live for these heavenly grid light moments!!

We also asked our friendly landlord, Serge of. gun graphics If he could put a sign in the window and connect us. It’s nice to see this giant scale logo peeking through a pop-up window.

Another of my favorite products is the amazing display and shelving unit that FTB built for us. You all helped make it! remember When asked which terracotta paint color to choose?? Well Baked Clay was a landslide winner, but we decided to use Spicy Hue inside the shelving unit to add depth and visual interest. what do you think?

The pop-up space reminds me of the Brooklyn loft apartment I lived in in my 20s. It has a very open floor plan without many architectural details. So we thought it would be cool to design the bathroom with raised floors and vintage checkered flooring to set it apart from the rest.

this Kohler Artifact Bathtub Having her moment at Peachblow!! I visited recently. caller Headquarters in Wisconsin and I were so inspired by the beautiful and timeless designs and colors in their latest collection. They recently brought back some of their heritage colors (Spring Green & Peach Blow) We’re here for some vintage vibes to celebrate our 150th anniversary!

this gorgeous pedestal sink and water tap It’s also a Kohler product and goes well with the checkered floor. space desert wallpaper. The modern brushed brass finish of the faucet matches beautifully with the gold accents of the wallpaper.

Yes, girl!!! Show off those cute little feet! 😉

You can just go in!!!!!

I’ve been recently inspired by art deco details and have been referencing them in my latest designs. This “stepped” detail in the bedroom area is one of my favorite design elements in the space. It creates a crown-like effect on the bed. Who doesn’t want to feel like a queen in the bedroom?

The lounge area has lots of things to discover, including books, pillows, and candles. A bright and cozy place to relax, be inspired and curious.

You know how when people come home, they always end up in the kitchen? Well, that’s true in our bar area. Everyone hangs out around here all the time. Maybe it’s because of the atmosphere!!! we have our phoenix natural This local wallpaper and FTB built this bar from scratch!! I used Kale Green and Bay Leaf and honestly, they are sexy AF!

I can’t wait to share this creative space with you this summer! visit us Website or IG oncoming pop-up event Promotions and business hours. We’d love to meet you IRL!
