Kevin Durant, Anthony Edwards Form Strong Bond on Team USA

MONews
2 Min Read

The goal of Team USA is to win Olympic gold. The secondary outcome of every time players come together to play for the United States is to plant the seeds for future partnerships. Many NBA duos and trios have been formed as players have enjoyed being teammates on Team USA and have tried to translate that into their daily work.

This summer, Phoenix Suns’ Kevin Durant and Minnesota Timberwolves’ Anthony Edwards have been an inseparable duo. ESPN’s Brian Windhorst reported that Edwards followed Durant around like a big brother while he was in France. ESPN’s Tim Bontemps shared that the same was true during the Olympic training camp in Las Vegas in early July.

There is no indication that the Wolves and Suns stars will form an NBA team in the future. Both players are signed to multi-year contracts, and Minnesota and Phoenix are both second-tier teams, which means there is limited room for movement. There is an age gap of nearly 13 years between the All-Stars.

Edwards has been open about his admiration for Durant, with the two famously being spotted trash-talking each other after the Timberwolves beat the Suns in the first round of the 2024 NBA playoffs.
