Kia Motors recalls 22,000 electric vehicles due to missing seat bolts

Kia has recalled more than 22,000 electric vehicles in the U.S. due to missing seat mounting bolts.

The company says some of these vehicles are missing second- and third-row seat mounting bolts. “Failure to adequately restrain occupants during certain crashes may increase the risk of injury.” Kia EV9, launched in 2023, is the manufacturer’s first three-row electric SUV.

However, Kia notes that customers may hear seats rattling or notice that the EV9’s seats are loose.

Owners of affected vehicles will be notified starting January 24th. People who suspect their vehicle may be included in the recall can also contact Kia customer service. Owners of affected Kia EV9 vehicles are encouraged to contact their authorized dealer, who will inspect all seat mounting bolts in their vehicle, install any missing bolts, and ensure they are properly secured at no charge.
