The global coalition against online abuse in sport has gone from strength to strength as the United Against Online Abuse (UAOA) campaign welcomes a prestigious new member to the coalition.

The IOC-recognized Association of International Sports Federations (ARISF) has officially joined UAOA, furthering its mission to combat online abuse and create safer online environments across the world of sport.

Established by the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) and supported by the FIA Foundation, UAOA currently consists of 27 members, including eight national governments, all in a joint effort to eradicate online abuse in sport. We are united.

ARISF, which represents 39 international sports federations, marks a pivotal milestone for the campaign, bringing greater diversity and global reach to the federation.

The partnership was formalized at the Peace and Sports Forum in Monaco, where FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem and ARISF President Raffaele Chiulli officially signed the UAOA Charter. The event provided an opportunity for leaders to reaffirm their shared commitment to creating a positive and inclusive digital environment for competitors, officials, journalists and fans.

This important step builds on ARISF’s previous work to integrate UAOA’s principles into its governance and integrity framework, and is a major vote of confidence for the campaign. The formal signing of the charter solidifies ARISF’s commitment to the ongoing work of the United Against Online Abuse campaign, which convenes national governments, sports organizations and technology platforms to tackle the growing online abuse in sports through evidence-based, actionable solutions .

Mohammed Ben Sulayem, FIA President and UAOA Founder, said:

“This major contract marks a landmark moment in our mission to fight online abuse. ARISF’s commitment is to strongly support the United Against Online Abuse campaign and its goals. Together, we will work towards actionable change to ensure sport remains a positive, inclusive and respectful space for everyone involved.”

ARISF President Raffaele Chiulli said:

“Online abuse is a widespread problem that affects every part of the sporting world. By signing the UAOA Charter, ARISF and its member federations reaffirm our commitment to protecting the welfare of all stakeholders in sport, both on and off the field. We are excited to partner with the UAOA and look forward to driving impactful solutions that protect the integrity of the sport as a welcoming space for all.”

The UAOA Charter, the cornerstone of the campaign, sets out principles for combating online abuse through research, education, advocacy and technological innovation. ARISF’s support strengthens the UAOA’s influence and highlights its growing reputation as a leader in the fight against online abuse in sports.

UAOA is a joint mission that brings together sports organizations, national governments, regulators and technology platforms into one global coalition to research and address online abuse within the sports ecosystem. They produce regular research reports and host international events and forums as the leading global campaign fighting online abuse of sport.
