Tropical Storm Debbie has brought more than 12 inches of rain and massive flooding to South Carolina, while Florida is reeling from the storm’s devastating aftermath.

Debbie, downgraded from a Category 1 hurricane, crossed the Florida-Georgia border late Monday. Green Pond, South Carolina, received more than 14 inches of rain Tuesday as the storm left the state’s coast.

Meanwhile, tornadoes are wreaking havoc across the state. One tornado downed power lines and damaged homes in Edisto Beach, while another damaged Isle of Palms. South Carolina Daily Gazette report.

Florida is now reeling from Debby as the storm blasts north, with “catastrophic” winds still a threat to Sunshine State residents. National Meteorological Administration Downed power lines, persistent flooding and widespread power outages have put the country at risk for heatstroke, they said.

Florida officials also warned residents to properly ventilate rooms containing generators to prevent deadly carbon monoxide poisoning.

At least five people, including a 13-year-old boy, were killed in Levy County after trees fell as the storm moved through Florida. A 38-year-old woman and a 12-year-old boy were also killed in an SUV crash in Dixie County.

Massive power outage affects 100,000 people

An estimated 100,000 people across Florida, Georgia and South Carolina were without power Tuesday afternoon due to Tropical Storm Debbie. Poweroutage.us.

Amid the power outages, officials are warning residents to drink water and watch for signs of heatstroke. Temperatures are nearing triple digits across much of Florida, with heat indices reaching nearly 110F (43C).

According to the National Weather Service, customers who use generators should ensure that indoor spaces are properly ventilated to avoid carbon monoxide poisoning.

The delay comes as Tropical Storm Debbie threatens to bring severe flash flooding and record rainfall to the state, according to the National Weather Service.

Donald Trump’s campaign announced that vice presidential candidate J.D. Vance will appear at the state Capitol on Thursday, the same day that Harris and Walz are scheduled to speak.

South Carolina dam could collapse in storm

The McGrady Dam in Colton County, South Carolina, is at risk of failure as Tropical Storm Debbie brings heavy rain to the area.

Colleton County Fire and Rescue officials warned nearby residents to evacuate.

The agency made it clear that a collapse was not imminent at X.

“The dam is currently being maintained, and once again the message is ‘likely to fail’ not ‘expected to fail,'” officials wrote. X. “Significant flooding in the dam and stream area has caused SCDOT to close Edward Road and Cavanaugh Road.”
