Liverpool have been trying to sign Bayer Leverkusen defender Piero Incapie in recent months.

The 22-year-old Ecuador international has been linked with a move to the Premier League for some time and it will be interesting to see where he ends up.

Liverpool need to sign a quality central defender and Hincapie would be a great addition to their squad. They will need to replace Joel Matip, who left the club earlier this summer. The South American could be the ideal alternative. However, journalist Ben Jacobs has now revealed that a move for Hincapie could be ruled out. There have been rumours of a move for the player this summer, but it looks unlikely.

Talk about ~ playJacobs said: “Piero Hincapie could be ruled out. We keep hearing links with Liverpool and Hincapie but we are told they are not involved in signing him.”

It will be interesting to see if Liverpool pursue other targets this summer, with a central defender needed before the transfer window closes.

Piero Hincapie would have been a good signing.

Meanwhile, Hincapie will be hoping to play for a top club in the near future. He proved himself in the Bundesliga with Bayer Leverkusen and was part of the team that won the league title last season.

The 22-year-old central defender is excellent with the ball at his feet and his distribution skills could add a new dimension to teams looking to attack from the back.

Hincapie can also play as a left-back. His versatility would be an added bonus. There is no doubt that he is good enough to play for the best clubs in the world, but it is still unclear where he will go.
