KC Johnson: Billy Donovan on whether Lonzo Ball will play on Saturday: “I don’t think so.” The ball practiced perfectly again today. – through Twitter @KCJHoop / October 10, 2024

While knee injuries remain a concern, his absence from the preseason opener was due to COVID-19. Ball got sick just before training camp, which cost him more than a week of training. According to Donovan, the virus took a huge toll on the guard, causing him to lose weight and strength. “I think there was a period of time when I was talking to the medical staff and even just talking to him, where he got his strength back,” Donovan said. “I think I missed working out for over a week (due to COVID). I lost some weight and some strength. “We will be cautious about increasing production,” he said. – through clutch point / October 9, 2024

Chicago Bulls coach Billy Donovan says Lonzo Ball’s absence from the team’s preseason opener wasn’t just due to his ongoing recovery from a knee injury. Instead, the 26-year-old guard, who is recovering from multiple knee surgeries, has been sidelined recently due to a severe case of COVID-19. The Bulls opened the preseason with a 116-112 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday night, but Ball, who last played an NBA game on Jan. 14, 2022, was once again sidelined. During his recovery, Ball underwent three surgeries on his left knee, including an experimental cartilage transplant. No professional athlete has ever recovered successfully from this surgery.. – through clutch point / October 9, 2024
