While people outside of the Tri-State area aren’t expecting much from the New York Giants this season, the Giants are hoping to build a foundation for success at least for the foreseeable future.

They went 6-11 last season, with issues across the board: starting quarterback Daniel Jones was limited to six games because of an ACL injury, and there was a lack of threat at wide receiver.

But now they have a rookie wideout with star potential in Malik Navers, and they’re hoping he can help Jones finally succeed.

Nabers, appearing on WFAN radio, said his relationship with Jones is “really good” and that he’s been trying to build chemistry with Jones.

New York secured the No. 6 pick in April’s draft, and there was speculation they would use it at quarterback after Jones failed to show much growth or development since entering the NFL in 2019.

But they chose Narberth instead, a 2023 SEC All-Team selection who finished last season with 1,569 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns, the most in NCAA FBS history.

In the Giants’ 28-10 loss to the Houston Texans last weekend in preseason play, Navers showed his potential, recording four catches and 54 yards.

They finished 30th in scoring and 31st in passing yards in 2023, and they struggled to finish below average in key offensive categories while Jones was with the team.

New York is unlikely to make the playoffs this year, but if the Neighbors live up to expectations, Jones’ productivity will increase and the organization can have an optimistic outlook for the foreseeable future.
