Man Utd eye Sergio Reguilon’s permanent move, Tottenham Hotspur open to discount deal – Man Utd News & Transfer News

Last season, Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag was forced to adjust his defence almost every week due to the club’s unprecedented injury crisis.

Left-backs have been among the hardest hit, with Luke Shaw missing 36 games throughout the season and back-up full-back Tyrell Malasia missing the entire season.

Things got so bad that the manager was forced to bring on Diogo Dalot and Aaron Wan-Bissaka (both right-backs) in the position in the final minutes of the season.

Earlier this season, Ten Hag brought on centre-back Victor Lindelof and defensive midfielder Sofiane Amrabat to fill the void.

LB had issues last season.

In fact, Malacia has yet to start pre-season training and the club have yet to provide a timetable for his potential return. Shaw, who is busy with England at the Euros, is expected to have a long break, so United are once again staring at the possibility of starting the season without their established left-back.

The Red Devils are keen to bring in a new left-back ahead of the new season, but are unlikely to sign a big-money deal given their need for reinforcements across the pitch.

The club have been linked with moves for Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkes, Girona’s Miguel Gutierrez, Fenerbahce’s Ferdi Kadioglu and even Chelsea’s Ben Chilwell.

but. Football Insider The 20-time English Premier League champions claim they are willing to bring Sergio Reguilon back to the club, this time on a permanent deal.

The Spaniard was brought in on loan last summer, but lasted just half a season as United terminated his loan deal with Shaw and Malacia nearing full fitness at the time – a decision that ultimately proved disastrous.

The Tottenham Hotspur player didn’t perform well during his short stay, but he showed plenty of attacking will and passion. However, minor injuries didn’t help his performance.

Spurs are keen to get rid of him and are demanding around £10m, a huge blow to the initial £32m investment. And the Spain international already knows what Ten Hag is asking for and will adapt straight away, needing little or no time to adjust to his new surroundings.

Reguilon again

“Manchester United will offer Sergio Reguilon a way back to Old Trafford this summer as they plan a move to sign him. Reguilon could offer a simpler option after spending six months on loan at the club last season.

“The Spaniard will need no time to adapt thanks to his previous experience and sources say the Premier League giants could sign Reguilon for a bargain.

“Spurs initially signed Reguilon for £32m, but Football Insider claims they are willing to take a huge loss and sell him for around £10m. This is because Reguilon is not part of Angers Postecoglou’s plans and the Spurs manager wants to keep him off his roster.”

Having a decent backup for Shaw would be a wise investment given Malacia’s injury woes. United can do better than the former Real Madrid star, but it is unlikely they will be able to sign a more capable player at this price point.
