India’s Manisha Ramadas has won bronze in the women’s singles SU5 event at the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games after defeating Denmark’s Katherine Rosengren on Monday, September 2. The 19-year-old Paralympian from Tamil Nadu, who won the third-place match 21-12, 21-8, has made history by becoming the first Indian female shuttler to win a medal at the Paralympics.
The first game was a close contest as both players showed their ability and perseverance. Manisha made several saves to preserve the game points but failed to capitalize on the openings she made. The opening set was won by Murugesan 23-21. Manisha got off to a good start in the second game and was ahead 11-10 at halftime. Murugesan made the most of her opponent’s mistakes. She combined accurate drop shots and appropriate movement to win the second set 21-17 and advance to the final.

Indian Paralympians are on a tear at the 2024 Paris Paralympics. India has won a total of 10 medals, including one gold, two silvers and five bronzes.
