Matthew Ryan was asked about his first week in Roma following the win over Barnsley.

The Australian goalkeeper contributed to a 4-0 win in the first friendly match played on British soil tonight.

After the game, Ryan said: Rome TV.

“It’s important to put in the time into everyone’s legs and work with the start of the season and the league debut in mind. It’s always good to get your body in shape and ready for the start of the season. That’s what we’re here for.”

“I’m very competitive and I love to win. I do everything I can to help everyone. So I talk to the young players, listen to them, listen to the instructions the coaches give me, and use all the skills I’ve developed as a football player.”

“I try to use my skills to win games and keep clean sheets. That’s why I am the person I am. I just want to win as many games as possible and it’s the same at Roma.”

“I feel comfortable here. The group is very welcoming and I started to relate to all my teammates. For me, it’s important. I want to help the club win as much as possible and to do that, I have to build good relationships with my teammates. I have to understand what each player is like as an individual.”

“Everton? We’re getting close to an important game. Another important step given the start of the season. They’re obviously a good team and it’ll be a good game to understand where we are. It’ll be another opportunity to put in some time on the legs and try to get a win to start the league with a win. We’ll try to do our best in training and be competitive.”
