History doesn’t repeat itself, but it often rhymes. Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels is turning those words into reality with a performance reminiscent of CJ Stroud’s performance last year.
Both quarterbacks were ranked second overall in their respective draft classes, surpassing the first overall pick. And like Stroud, Daniels is headed toward Offensive Rookie of the Year honors. However, NFL analyst Danny Parkins believes Daniels’ year has gone much better.
Danny Parkins claims Jayden Daniels destroyed CJ Stroud’s rookie season.
Last season, the Houston Texans had 4,108 passing yards for 23 touchdowns and 167 yards on the ground with three extra scores. By comparison, Daniels has one game under his belt and 3,530 passing yards for 25 touchdowns, along with 864 rushing yards and six TDs.
But during an appearance on FS1’s ‘Breakfast Ball,’ Parkins didn’t even focus on these statistics to make his point.
“What Jaden Daniels is doing is honestly more impressive than what CJ Stroud did last year,” he said.

“This is one of the really great rookie quarterback seasons we’ve seen, from what the Commanders looked like to what he transformed. They are the NFL’s fourth-best team since 2018.
“If a rookie quarterback is asked to do that at the position and deliver 100 percent of the time, it just gives him a very high ceiling, because they clearly trust him to be able to execute in any situation.”
Playoff glory has Daniels and Commanders fans excited.
Daniels is not one to hide his emotions, and it was clearly on display after the Commanders defeated the Atlanta Falcons 30-24 in overtime. With this win, Washington secured a spot in the wild card playoffs, the team’s first postseason appearance in four years.
“The fan base has been waiting for this for a long time,” Daniels told the media after the game. “Words can’t express how much it means to them and how much it means to me to be able to go out and lead this franchise, this team, to that opportunity.”
The Commanders still have a meeting with the Dallas Cowboys before they begin their postseason journey. Daniels will look to establish himself as a top offensive rookie again this year.
