New Delhi (AP) -Indian telecommunications operator Bharti Airtel announced that it signed a contract with ELON Musk’s Starlink to provide Indian customers with the service of the US satellite Internet giants.

Musk has long wanted Starlink to enter the world’s most populated market, but the entry into India was delayed due to regulatory problems, security issues and opposition parties of domestic telecommunications giants, such as the billionaire MUKESH AMBANI’s Reliance JIO.

AIRTEL, the second largest telecommunications company in India, said that the trading with Starlink depends on whether the subsidiary of the US aerospace company, SPACEX, can be approved by the government to start operating in India.

More than 40% of India’s more than 1.4 billion people can still be accessible to the Internet, especially in cheap satellite broadbands to bridge these gaps in the vast remote and mountainous areas of India.

MUSK’s Starlink has at least 6,900 active satellites that provide low -broadband satellites, including areas where the Internet was not fully available.

In November, Jyotiraditya Scindia Minister of India said Starlink has not yet complied with security norms, and the license for satellite telecommunication services will only be issued after the company meets all requirements.

The presentation of Airtel Partnership will come after a few weeks Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Musk In Washington, we discussed problems including space, mobility, technology and innovation.

The agreement says, “The company’s statement will explore how Starlink can complement and expand Airtel’s services and AIRTEL’s expertise in the Indian market to supplement SpaceX’s direct provision to consumers and businesses.

As part of this contract, the two companies will provide STARLINK services to business customers through STARLINK equipment and AirTel in AIRTEL’s vast retail network and use each other’s network infrastructure to improve the application of entire India.

The statement did not provide more details.
