Vice President Kamala Harris said nothing as supporters gathered for a celebration at her alma mater, Howard University, as election night turned into Wednesday morning.
Harris is scheduled to address the nation later Wednesday, and her campaign co-chair Cedric Richmond said the polls showed a thinning crowd at a watch party at Howard University after midnight.
Photos showed partygoers leaving and Harris supporters crying as results continued to show her trailing in key states.
After the evening began with music playing and the crowd dancing, the atmosphere at Howard University died down.
