1. Hang art in unexpected places. How cool is that framed picture below the window? I love seeing art placed high, low, around corners…

2. Try painting the stairs. Right now our stairs and hallways are white, which is fine, but not great. Maybe we could paint the railing a light pink or dark blue, even if we didn’t go all out like the townhouse above.

3. Display the book cover. I forgot how nice it looks to have a few books spread out on the shelf, and I’d like to try doing something like this in particular: This John Currin cover.

4. Refresh your artwork. Two years ago, I moved two paintings to ‘faux-furnish my living room and was amazed at how different the space looked. I’m also excited to bring in some work from emerging artists and small retailers. this and this and this and this.

5. Add a little more brown. My friend’s favorite color is brown, and she’s been teased about it her whole life. But this fall, brown is all the rage, so it’s her moment to shine. Fashion And decor. I was inspired to bring a bit more brown into our home. blanket? or pillow?
