On Christmas Day, a one-month-old baby was abandoned in the median of a busy street in Adams County, Colorado.
In the statement Adams County Sheriff’s Office A 911 call around 9:20 a.m. alerted police to a baby wearing only a diaper and sitting in a car seat in the median of Pecos Street in Adams County.
As a precautionary measure, police took the baby to a safe place and took him to the hospital.
Police immediately searched for the baby’s family and are looking for witnesses who may have seen when and how the baby was left behind.
“Our investigators have contacted the infant’s family and are continuing the investigation,” the Adams County Sheriff’s Office told X in an update Sunday night. “If we deem it appropriate, we will file criminal charges.”
The baby appears to be mixed race or Hispanic.

An investigation is underway after a 1-month-old baby was left in the median of Pecos Street in Adams County on Christmas Day.
The Adams County Sheriff’s Office said a good Samaritan called 911 around 9:20 a.m. after discovering the baby in the area of 7490 Pecos Street.
The boy was taken to Children’s Hospital Colorado as a precaution.
According to ACSO, the child appears to be 1 month old and was found in a car seat/carrier wearing only a diaper. The sheriff’s office said the baby appears to be biracial or Hispanic.
Detectives have canvassed the area and are keen to speak to anyone who may have been in the area when the baby left. Investigators are also seeking surveillance video from nearby businesses and dashcam footage from drivers who were in the area at the time.
