The headline work number in the March Employment Report was higher than expected, but the salary in January and February was revised to 48,000. Participation rate increased, the percentage of employment population did not change, and unemployment rate increased to 4.2%.
The overall participation rate is influenced by periodic (recession) and demographic statistics (aging population, young people who stay in school), so the percentage of employment population of major labor age groups is 25 to 54 years old.
Participation rate of 25-54 years decreased from 83.5%in February to 83.3%in March.
The percentage of employment population of 25-54 decreased from 80.5%last month to 80.4%.
Average hourly wage

Wage growth was 3.8% in March after reaching its peak at 5.9% YoY in March 2022.
Part -time for economic reasons
In BLS report:
“For economic reasons, the number of people hired as part -time was 4.8 million, which has rarely changed in March. This individual preferred full -time employment, but worked as part -time because he had reduced time or could not find a full time job.“
For economic reasons, the number of people working in part -time decreased from 4.94 million in February to 47.8 million in March. This is higher than the previous level.
