“For my book tour, I saved up for a few fun, expensive pieces. I wanted to celebrate the effort and solitude of writing a book, and this dress was one of them. “There is a feeling that if you are fat, wearing brightly colored clothes will attract unwanted attention. And it’s true that I’ve heard reviews about this dress. But that’s because it’s a dress that brings joy to people. I love being a part of that experience. Even if it means I get a little more attention for what I’m wearing.”

“This December, my mom said, ‘Merry Christmas, here’s a tote bag from the Paris Review!’ I was a little confused until I realized that the image was the work of my grandfather, who was an artist. I can still see him sitting in his little boat wearing his captain’s hat and drinking a really strong vodka martini.”

“I grew up saving a lot. Then things changed and most vintage stores downsized. I was embarrassed. When I go shopping with my friends, I just look at accessories. We met by chance in New Haven. witch bitch used goodsSize included. Shopping there felt like a life-changing experience.
