PCB insists on holding finals in Lahore in case of rejection by India

ICC Champions Trophy 2025 has once again become a hot topic in the cricket world. This time too, India’s participation in the tournament proved to be a huge challenge for the host committee, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

According to a report by PTI, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) I have mentally prepared myself for India’s refusal to travel to India for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. However, President Mohsin Naqvi made it clear that there will be no change in the venue of the finals to be held in Lahore.

The Pakistan Cricket Board is also making arrangements for India to play all their matches in Dubai. Recently, there was a report in Sports Tak that the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is likely to be played in a hybrid model and the Men in Blue will play the game outside Pakistan.

The Pakistan Cricket Board has made its stand firm on the final. They issued a statement saying they want the International Cricket Council (ICC) to host the summit at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore even if India reaches the final of the ICC Champions Trophy in 2025.

A source close to PCB said, “PCB’s first choice and priority is to host the entire Champions Trophy in Pakistan and they are looking forward to it, but internally the board is mentally preparing for the news that the Indian government will not allow the team to play in Pakistan. “There is,” he said. The match between Pakistan and India will be held in the UAE.”

“However, the PCB has decided to host the final in Lahore even if India does not play in Pakistan. Even if India reaches the final, the PCB wants the ICC to host the match at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.”

The International Cricket Council (ICC) board members are scheduled to meet in Dubai from October 18 to 21. Reports suggest that the Pakistan Cricket Board will also take the same stance. The BCCI may also ask the ICC to hold the tournament in a hybrid model and relocate the matches to Sri Lanka or Dubai.

PCB to submit details of stadium renovation cost for ICC Champions Trophy 2025

Sources close to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said the governing body will submit details about the cost of stadium renovation. He said:

“They will submit details, including a top budget of around $7 billion allocated for the renovation work of the Lahore stadium.”

Reports of ICC Champions Trophy 2025 going out of Pakistan have troubled President Mohsin Naqvi.

He also mentioned that reports of ICC Champions Trophy 2025 leaving Pakistan had bothered President Mohsin Naqvi. However, he insisted that they will make the effort as the president wants the entire tournament to be held in Pakistan. He added:

“All this talk that the ICC Champions Trophy might be shifted to a completely different venue has bothered the PCB and they will discuss it as Naqvi is adamant that Pakistan will host the event.”

The PCB recently released the draft schedule, according to which Pakistan has been placed in Group A along with India, Bangladesh and New Zealand. According to this, the India match will be held in Lahore.
