Here’s some very sad news from the world of social media today.
Popular YouTube personality Ben Potter, known as Comicstorian on the platform, passed away on June 8 after an “unfortunate accident,” according to Potter’s wife Nathalie.
He was 40 years old.
Potter has over 1 million subscribers on YouTube. He also created audio dramas of comic books on his Comicstorian account and often spoke about the Marvel and DC Universe.
“For many people, he was a Comicstorian, telling stories through a variety of mediums. To his loved ones, he was one of the nicest, most supportive individuals anyone could ask for.” Nathalie tweeted late Monday.
“As a husband, son, brother, friend, and even stranger, Ben was loving and genuine. He was a man who listened and made time for those he loved. He will do his best to make everyone laugh and make sure they are okay.
“He was our rock and provided reassurance to our loved ones whenever they needed it.”

There are currently no details regarding Porter’s death.
Potter uploaded a total of 4,000 YouTube videos and shared his final post a day before his death, titled Why DC’s Reboots Can Beat Marvel.
Natalie said her partner was “my world”, adding:
“I need time to be with my friends and family. There is so much to figure out, but first we have to grieve. Please respect my privacy and that of others. My priority now is to preserve everything he built and I have no plans beyond that.
“His channel was one of his greatest achievements. We all need time to mourn him, but I know he wouldn’t want it to end this way.”
Potter began his YouTube career over a decade ago and has garnered many famous fans along the way.
For example, O’Shea Jackson Jr., the son of Ice Cube and Kimberly Woodruff, was among those who paid tribute to Potter upon learning he had passed away.
“Praying for your loved ones. Long live Ben Porter,” Jackson Jr. wrote online. “I’m doing great. Hold on to your loved ones. See you soon.”
Meanwhile, Natalie assured her followers that her husband’s channel would remain active.
“Tim and I want to continue this work. It’s about honoring him and keeping the memory of our superheroes alive by continuing to tell great stories of great people,” she concluded. “We support each other in everything we want to do, and I’m not stopping now.”
May Ben Porter rest in peace.
