Max Purcell and Jordan Thompson competed at the Mubadala City DC Open on Thursday.

Max Purcell and Jordan Thompson reached their seventh semifinal of the year at the Mubadala City DC Open on Thursday, beating Sebastian Korda and Alex Mikkelsen.
The No. 2 seed, who shared three titles this year, defeated the American 6-4, 7-5 after saving eight of the nine break points he faced, according to Infosys ATP Stats. Purcell and Thompson have won in Dallas, Los Cabos and Houston this year. Thompson won the ATP Masters 1000 event in Madrid, partnering Korda, who reached the quarterfinals in singles.
Purcell and Thompson, who reached the Wimbledon final last month, will next face fourth seeds Nathaniel Ramons and Jackson Withrow or fifth seeds Lloyd Glasspool and Santiago Gonzalez.
In the top half of the bracket, Sadio Doumbia and Hugo Nys upset top seeds Harri Heliovaara and Henry Patten 6-2, 7-5. Brazil’s Rafael Matos and Marcelo Melo beat Karen Khachanov and Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard 6-4, 7-6 (3).
