Can Norris close the gap again?
As for drivers looking to improve their standings, Lando Norris arrived in Italy with a commanding lead after claiming his second career win.
Norris’ win at Zandvoort was his biggest win so far this season and it has strengthened the belief that he can pose a genuine threat to Max Verstappen in the drivers’ championship this season.
Norris is still 70 points behind the championship leader, but with nine rounds remaining, it is technically within his grasp, as a fastest lap win in every race would be enough to turn the tables. But given how tight Formula 1 has been this year, and the fact that Monza presents a very different challenge to Zandvoort, such a feat is highly unlikely.
