Washington DC – Today, MoveOn Political Action Executive Director Rahna Epting is quoted in the following article: new york timesThe final stages of the campaign are sounding the alarm about how a third-party candidate poses a clear and present danger to Vice President Kamala Harris’ election effort. The article also covers MoveOn’s efforts to mitigate third-party spoilers that have already stymied No Label’s GOP funding bid and helped knock Robert F. Kennedy Jr. out of the race.

Epting conveyed that the stakes were very high. She said:The presidential race could be down to a few thousand votes in a handful of states. “These third-party candidates remain a significant threat this cycle.”

new york times He noted that Stein’s candidacy in 2016 helped elect Donald Trump. “In 2016, Mr. Stein received 31,072 votes in Wisconsin. That’s more votes than the 22,748 votes that Trump won over Hillary Clinton in the state. And many Democrats blame her for the loss in Wisconsin.”

new york times MoveOn’s general election program was also covered. “ma’am. Epting said his organization is now increasingly focused on one-on-one voter outreach to encourage people to support Ms. Harris.”

Epting added it “The more we can engage voters, especially hard-to-reach voters in this election, and talk to them about Kamala Harris’ agenda for this country, that’s an incredibly effective strategy.”

MoveOn’s efforts also included holding Jill Stein and Cornel West accountable for their willingness to collaborate with Republicans and Trump allies in a potentially illegal nationwide scheme to circumvent election laws. Epting said:“That is not a safe place to store protest tickets.”
