The Rajasthan Premier League (RPL) was not held in 2024 due to the limitations on the powers of the RCA interim committee. Fresh elections and a new RCA executive body are expected to restore normal operations.

Rajasthan Premier League 2024: Tournament suspended due to lack of authority

The Rajasthan Premier League (RPL), which had its inaugural season in 2023, will not be held in 2024.

Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) interim committee convener Jaideep Vihani made it clear that the interim body lacks the powers required to conduct the tournament.

“We were not given the mandate to organise the Rajasthan Premier League this year. The newly elected body to be elected after the elections will be responsible for organising the league,” Bihani said.

Impact of RCA’s Administrative Changes

Earlier this year, the Rajasthan government dissolved the RCA executive headed by Vaibhav Gehlot following allegations of irregularities.

As a result, an ad hoc committee was formed with Bihani as the convener. Bihani also stressed that domestic cricket events such as the Ranji Trophy and various age-group tournaments are still being organised despite the difficulties.

“We are organising domestic cricket including Ranji Trophy, U16, U19, U23 matches and selection of each team,” he said.

Financial Disputes and the Upcoming RCA Election

Responding to concerns over unpaid vendors from the previous RPL season, Vihani said only salaries related to the upcoming domestic season will be paid and the funds will be transferred directly from the BCCI to the players and officials.

In addition, Bihani revealed that new elections for the RCA are imminent.

The interim committee has been in operation for six months and elections are underway to prevent further extension.

Bihani also said he had filed a complaint with the Jaipur police against three former RCA board members, accusing them of financial irregularities.
