Ronika Hodges Named Assistant Coach for Connecticut Sun: How She Will Help the Team

The Connecticut Sun announced Roneika Hodges as the organization’s new assistant coach on Friday, and she is eager to begin her new role.

“I’m excited to begin this new journey with Coach Meziane and the Sun organization,” Hodges said in a press release. “I look forward to sharing my knowledge and experience of the game as we continue to grow our winning culture. I am grateful for the opportunity and look forward to continued success.”

Hodges previously served as an assistant coach for the WNBA’s New York Liberty from 2022-2024. While in that role, she led the Liberty to their first WNBA championship in 2024 and 30-plus consecutive regular season wins in 2023 and 2024.

Prior to joining Liberty, Hodges coached college as an assistant at Colgate University (2021-2022) and Old Dominion University (2020-2021). She also served as a special advisor to the Louisiana State University women’s basketball program during the 2019-2020 season.

Hodges also played in the WNBA from 2005 to 2015. During her career, she played for the Houston Comets, Minnesota Lynx, San Antonio Silver Stars, Indiana Fever, Tulsa Shock, and Atlanta Dream. She played in college at Louisiana State University (2000-2003) and Florida State University (2004-2005), earning first team All-ACC honors in 2005.

“Having an experienced former player like Ronika on our staff will be a great asset to the Sun,” Connecticut Sun coach Rashid Mezian said in a press release. “She brings a passion for the game, a winning mentality and an understanding of what it takes to be a great coach. I look forward to working with her in Connecticut and continuing to grow together.”
