The Minnesota Vikings made a big move by signing perennial All-Pro wide receiver Justin Jefferson to the highest-paying contract for a non-quarterback in NFL history.
The extension is worth $140 million over four years, with $110 million guaranteed.
Now the former national champion and first-round pick is locked in for the future of the Twin Cities.
Former NFL quarterback Ryan Leaf gave his latest thoughts on Jefferson’s trade via SiriusXM NFL Radio.
“This is a huge deal. It doesn’t matter who throws rocks at him, Coach O’Connell will find a way to get him the ball.” Leaf said.

Jefferson is the best player on the Vikings. That’s why they gave him the bag.
They’ll make it their mission, as Leaf said, to get him some football.
He was the most productive player at his position in NFL history.
His 5,899 receiving yards over his first four years are the most by any wide receiver in his first four seasons in the NFL.
Leaf also said it doesn’t matter who throws the football at him.
The man who threw the football to him was rookie signal caller JJ McCarthy.
Well, it might actually be veteran Sam Darnold for the first few weeks of the season until McCarthy gets his legs.
But McCarthy would be a long-term option at quarterback.
It’s up to him to build a strong relationship with Jefferson.
If he can’t do that, the Vikings will have trouble at quarterback.
But the bottom line is they’ve locked up their best player for years to come.
