Williams has revealed plans to launch the car in 2025 as the team begins its partnership with Carlos Sainz.

The Spaniard, who joined Williams from Ferrari, was allowed to drive for his new team in post-season testing in Abu Dhabi last month. Williams will launch its new car, the FW47, at Silverstone on February 14, but is saving the race livery for the F1 75 event at London’s O2 Arena four days later. Sainz said he was encouraged by early signs since he began working with the team.

“This is an important time for the team and we will all be working to get Williams back to the front of the grid as quickly as possible,” Sainz said. “I was very impressed with the team in Abu Dhabi. After a long year, it was great to see everyone putting so much motivation and effort into such an important exam.

“This has allowed us to have a solid plan in place and we have already started working on making sure we are as prepared as possible ahead of pre-season testing and the first race. The Silverstone car launch is just around the corner and I can’t wait to see my new car! 2025 will be an exciting year and we are committed to producing a strong season. Vamos!”

Team principal James Vowles said the team had been focused on a new car for some time as they were likely to want to shift their attention to the new regulations in 2026 as soon as possible.

“There’s a ton to look forward to from Williams in 2025. We have a fantastic race driver in Alex. [Albon] and Carlos, leading engineers join from across the grid and our new facility begins operations at Grove HQ,” said Vowles.

“As part of our comeback plans, we’ve been working on the 2025 car for some time and can’t wait to see it at Silverstone on February 14. Everyone on the team is giving everything they have to get this team back where it belongs. We are moving towards major rule changes in 2026. “This is going to be an interesting year.”

Williams will follow in Ferrari’s footsteps and confirm a date for unveiling its actual racing car in 2025, with Ferrari scheduled to unveil it in Maranello on February 19. All ten teams will take part in the launch event for F1’s 75th season in London on February 18, but at that time the teams were only required to reveal their race liveries and not the new cars themselves.
