India national cricket team batsman Sanju Samson made decent contact with the bat in the first T20I match against Bangladesh national cricket team. The first match of the three-match series between the teams will be played at the New Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium in Gwalior.

Sanju Samson, who opened the innings, got off to a good start by playing some clean shots and started the innings on a high note. The goalkeeper batsman displayed high-quality timing throughout the innings and enjoyed stroke play.

Only once did he fail to time the ball and that led to his downfall. In the 5th ball of the 8th over, Mehidy Hasan was bowled in-drift and Sanju Samson was caught at the back. The length wasn’t that full so it wasn’t ideal for playing that shot.

Sanju Samson eventually dragged it from the inside half towards deep mid-wicket where Rishad Hossain could easily catch it. What caught the attention of many was the goalkeeper’s reaction after being out. He felt frustrated and the video went viral.

Sanju Samson went out and was disappointed.

Here’s the clip:

Sanju Samson scored 29 runs to help India win their first T20I.

Sanju Samson’s innings of 29 off 19 balls took his team close to the target after the loss of Abhishek Sharma. The goalkeeper batsman batted at a strikeout rate of over 152 and also hit six boundaries in his knock. Due to the way he batted, he definitely missed out on a half-century.

After Sanju Samson was out, all-rounder Hardik Pandya played a brutal hand with the bat. He went 39 unbeaten innings off just 16 balls. He batted with a strikeout rate of around .245 and hit five fours and two sixes in an inning.

With a much-needed effort with bat and ball, the Indian national cricket team won the match by 7 wickets and took a 1-0 lead in the three-match T20I series. They chased down 128 runs in just 11.5 overs and sent a strong message to their opponents with two matches still remaining.

After 3 long years, it touched me – Varun Chakaravarthy

Varun Chakaravarthy, playing his first match for India since the T20 Worlds 2021, said he was thrilled to be playing after three years. He said it was a reincarnation for him and that he was focused on the process. He also added that he worked a lot with Ravichandran Ashwin in the TNPL and participating in the tournament helped him. He added:

After three long years, it was touching to me. It feels good to be back in the blues. I feel like I was reborn. I just want to stick to the process. That’s what I followed in the IPL as well. I don’t want to go beyond what’s there, I just want to stay in the present. So I don’t want to think too much or express too much.

After IPL, I participated in a few tournaments, one of which was TNPL. It’s a very good tournament and a high level too. That’s where I also work a lot with Ash (Ashwin) bhai. I won and gained confidence from this. Preparing for this series has been great for me.
