It’s not something I write about often because season 4 of the TV show focuses on video games. But in season 4 myth quest That’s another problem.

The show, which debuted with its first two episodes on Apple TV+ on January 29, brings back workplace comedy about a video game studio. The ensemble cast returns with stars including Rob McElhenney (as mercurial creative director Ian Grimm) and Charlotte Nicdao (as technical lead Poppy Li). The show is adept at skewering the sometimes comical culture of the video game industry, and it’s garnering attention as it was originally produced by Ubisoft.

The show is as silly as usual, but I like how one of the opening scenes is about the Play Pen, a user-generated content gimmick meant to revive the studio’s core online games. In the second episode, users are all busy making sex games and the studio has to figure out what to do about it. David enlists the help of the studio’s ethics committee to find answers. And of course AI is the next big trend that gets skewered in the show.

Game tester Rachel (played by Ashly Burch) is now the studio’s head of revenue generation. She will be pressured to be more vicious than Brad Bakshi (Dani Pudi) when it comes to making money.

Studio president David Brittlesbee (played by executive producer David Hornsby) continues to be caught between studio leaders and headquarters. It’s still all too real to mention something stupid in the gaming industry. I checked it through the preview.

The opening show, Boundaries, outlines the new responsibilities and boundaries drawn as the characters’ lives change. Ian and Poppy rejoined the studio following their independence. But Poppy, once a programming addict, isn’t working as hard now that she has a new boyfriend. It’s interesting that the show recognizes real-life game development issues, like too much crunch, long working hours, and often no pay. So, of course, Poppy creates an AI version of herself to do the work for her and help Ian do his midnight glowing work.

The season will consist of 10 episodes, with the final episode releasing on Apple TV+ on March 26.

myth quest It is executive produced by McElhenney and Charlie Day under their RCG banner, Michael Rotenberg and Nicholas Frenkel for 3Arts, and Margaret Boykin, Austin Dill and Gérard Guillemot for Ubisoft Film & Television. Hornsby and Megan Ganz also serve as executive producers. The series is produced for Apple TV+ by Lionsgate, 3 Arts Entertainment, and Ubisoft. The first three seasons myth quest It is currently streaming globally on Apple TV+.

The new season also saw an expansion of the show. myth quest universe, side questexplores the lives of employees, players and fans impacted by the game in an anthology format. If you always need a break from CNN/Fox News and the current political climate, here’s what I recommend: myth quest As a nice change of pace.
