Acadiana Women’s Basketball with Southside Friday night match was not just a milling district. It was a night that remembered two players representing the great players of the great players through the Wreckin’s Rams Girls Basketball Program.
Their 2024 Legacy Knight was blocked by retiring two of the alumni’s uniforms, Detrina White and Sheri Sam. Even after two Arcadians or legends, no player 55 is never again.
“There is no recognition in the basketball community for these two players around the campus or basketball community around the campus and the basketball community.” “Everyone knows the legacy of Kim perrot. She is like a gold standard in basketball in Lafayette. But if you look at more history, there are two more players without public recognition. ”
Richardson, who led the Legacy Night event, first planned to retire Kim Ferro’s jersey, but her family could not make it. Sam was once returned to her old thumping land as the queen of court.
More than football school
During the time of playing in Arcadiana, the two guards were deadly rebels and a much more dangerous defender. SAM, who graduated in 1992, was a rebound player and a blocker who led the WreckIn ‘RAMS before she gained her career in Vanderbilt. She was the third player in Komodor’s history, and was named Kodak All-American after scoring an average of 20.4 points per game.
At the WNBA, SAM won the WNBA Championship with the 2004 Seattle Storm. She is also the highest scorer of the WNBA’s current destroyed Miami Sol.
When Sam left Acadiana, White picked up from where she left. She will be a new leader of rebounds and blocks as RAM before playing in LSU. White was an average double double in the walking passage high school and almost the same for tigers. In 1998, Acadiana Alum played in WNBA in 2002 due to Indiana fever.
In honor of two great players in the past, it can not only be added to the resume of SAM and White, but also helps to trigger the next generation of stars from Acadiana.
Richardson said, “This shows more than just a soccer school. “No one to you, ‘Oh, you are not special, don’t play for Arcadian or women’s basketball. These women played here and showed that they could succeed at the highest level in the world. ”
Sam, White and soon perrot will be overwhelmed by the rafters of Acadiana Gym.
