I have never refused to go shopping. Home goodsAnd when I travel to a new area or arrive in a different neighborhood, I love stopping by different locations because no two stores are the same. I can’t resist the thrill of the hunt (I’m obsessed with thrift) and the excitement of finding amazing decor items at a price that’s easy on your wallet. Can you blame me? That said, as a design enthusiast, I try to be selective about the finds I bring home when I shop at big-box stores. I love bargain finds, but I still want my space to look organized, collected, and unique. That said, I’ve learned to expertly sift through the many products lining the shelves of HomeGoods. If you’re wondering what to buy at HomeGoods, read on.

In the future, I’ll share my tips for finding pieces that I love. Over the years, I’ve developed a knack for focusing on timeless pieces rather than trend-forward ones. Below are 15 items I found and loved while shopping at two HomeGoods stores in New York City and suburban New Jersey. I share tips on how to style each piece and discuss why they should be in your shopping cart. Keep an eye out at your local store for these finds before they’re gone!

Kane Tee Caddy, $9.99

When I saw this tea caddy, I couldn’t help but bring it home and it now sits beautifully on my kitchen counter. I love anything with a canning lid and I love how this product makes it easy to sort and store my different tea bags so I can easily grab what I want that night. Of course, you can repurpose this box for other things besides tea, like jewelry or nail polish.

salty bench

Salty Bench, $199

This woven bench is beautiful and functional and would make a fantastic dining bench in a breakfast area. However, it would still look great in a living room or at the end of a bed. This material adds instant textural interest to a space and is perfect for those who love the influence of nature. Add a few more cushions if you want to make it cozy, or leave it as is for a simple, neutral feel.

fake tree

Fake Tree, $129.99

Not all fake plants are created equal, but this potted fake tree caught my eye right away because of how realistic and stylish it looks. I love the pot, and the moss-covered bottom makes it look more real than other fake plants planted next to plastic-like “dirt” material. You’ll be amazed at how different this can look in an empty corner that needs a little makeover.

The gold base and white shade will complement a variety of aesthetics, so it’ll fit right in when you move it from one room to another in your home. I also love that it’s battery operated, not rechargeable, so no need to worry about annoying cords!

Cocktail Napkins, $5.99

If you enjoy entertaining guests often, stock up on cocktail napkins from HomeGoods. I have a drawer full of different styles so I’m always prepared for any type of event. While browsing the newest styles in the store, I was particularly drawn to this classic block print pattern. When you have guests over, place these in the bathroom so they don’t have to share communal hand towels.

Shell shaped cabinet

Shell Shape Cabinet, $299.99

At $300, this shell-shaped two-door cabinet is the most expensive item on my list, but it’s a great choice because it’s so versatile. You can place it by your front door and use it as an entryway table, turn it into a bar cabinet, or place it in a playroom to store toys and games. It’s neutral yet playful and would work well in both kids’ and adults’ spaces.

Jewelry Box, $29.99

The perfect jewelry box doesn’t exist. Oh, wait! This blue marble beauty is small but eye-catching thanks to its rich blue hue. Cushion, $16.99

Why are some cushions so expensive? I’ve been obsessed with gorgeous cushion covers for years, but they cost hundreds of dollars. Luckily, this cute green and white cushion is under $20 (insert included!). It’s a no-brainer for those looking to add more pattern to their home. It’ll look stylish on your bed, couch, or anywhere else.

circular object

Circular Object, $24.99

HomeGoods is full of decorative accents that can stand alone or be used as bookends, like this marble sculpture (it’s heavy!). I love the pops of muted color and the striped design. Trust me, this luxurious design could sell for at least 3x what it’s selling for here.

Blue vase

Blue Vase, $29.99

Vases and bowls are another specialty item at HomeGoods, and they are similar to the unique handmade pieces you see at craft fairs. They would look great with eucalyptus or pampas grass inside, but they are pretty enough to stand out on their own, even when empty.
