Yannick Sinner didn’t see Novak Djokovic’s Retired in the semifinals of the Australian Open due to injury.

The world number one will realize that impact in Sunday’s final.

Defending AO champion Sinner had a 20-game winning streak heading into Sunday’s final. Alexander Zverev, The Serbian superstar, who led Djokovic 7-6 (5), retired with a torn muscle.

For Sinner, who is playing in a hardcourt major for the third straight year, Djokovic’s retirement makes one thing clear. He has a big problem.

“I was warming up. I didn’t see it live,” Sinner said of Djokovic’s retirement. “I saw later what happened. It’s very unfortunate that something like this happens, especially in the semi-finals of a Grand Slam.”

“But Novak retiring means there’s a big problem for him. He’s won here in the past with physical issues and he’s always tried to give his best. He’s given so much in his career for this sport so far.” Yes.

“I’m so sorry. I wish you a speedy recovery.”
