“How was this made?” We’re partnering with MoveOn to run an election fundraising campaign.

Our names are Paul, June and Jason. I don’t want to lie, but you’ve probably seen us on your favorite TV shows or movies. But I’ll get to that later.

We were watching the Democratic National Convention last month, and we heard President Barack Obama say something interesting: “We don’t need four more years of pretentiousness, stupidity, and confusion. We’ve already seen that movie, and we all know that sequels are usually worse.”

We know something about it. Well… at least the movie part.

For the past 14 years, we’ve had a podcast called “How Did This Get Made?” It’s a very successful podcast. In it, we watch terrible movies and joke around about how they got into theaters. (EDIT: It’s now June and I’d like to make it official that some of us are being forced to watch it.)

Whatever June says, we enjoy doing it and I think our fans will enjoy listening to it. At least we hope so. Our podcast gets 40 million downloads a year! We’ve also won awards. There are so many. Just trust us.

But while the three of us are actors, writers and comedians by trade, we are also Americans who can see how important this election is, how this is a historic opportunity not only to defeat Donald Trump, but to elect Kamala Harris, who has a new and exciting vision for our country.

We wanted to do something helpful, and what better way to do it than by leveraging our fan base to host a live virtual podcast called “How Did This Get Made?” All proceeds from ticket sales will go directly to support MoveOn’s 2024 election plan to reach 1.5 million voters in key battleground states and districts.

We decided to take a page out of Barack Obama’s playbook and talk about one of the most infamous sequels of all time on our show, “Trolls 2.” Fans have been asking us to do this for years, and we’re finally giving in to help MoveOn. We even convinced our friend Adam Scott to join us for the live stream on Friday, September 6th at 8pm ET/5pm PT.

It may be fun, it may be confusing, it may even be bewildering, but you will be raising a lot of money to support MoveOn and help us win this election. Want to join in on the fun? Click here and donate any amount to secure your spot. You’ll receive a follow-up email with all the details before the event!

Okay, our friends at MoveOn said we should tell you who we are, just in case you don’t recognize our names right away (and even if you do, how dare you?).

My name is Paul Scheer. You may have seen me in “The League,” “Veep,” “Black Monday,” the new movie “Twisters,” or you may have read my writing. The New York Times Bestseller “A Joyful Memories of Trauma”

This is June Diane Raphael. You may have seen me on “Grace and Frankie,” “New Girl,” “Parks & Recreation,” or on another podcast, “The Deep Dive.” Or you may have read my guidebook for women running for office, “Represent: The Women’s Guide to Running for Office and Changing the World.”

And I’m Jason Mantzoukas. I’m always the last one to go. I’ve been on “The League,” “Parks & Recreation,” “The Good Place,” “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” and I’m in the new Disney+ series “Percy Jackson and the Olympians.” Or maybe you’re walking down the street in Los Angeles one day and you suddenly hear someone yelling “GEOSTORM.” That’s definitely it. ~ No But I was a fan who screamed, “How did this get made?” ~ in Me. Just listen to the podcast. You’ll understand.

And you all know Adam Scott from “Parks & Recreation,” “Big Little Lies,” “Severance,” and everything else he does. He can talk to you.

We’re excited to get together to talk about this horribly terrible film and raise a ton of money to support the great work MoveOn will be doing over the next six days.

It’s going to be so much fun, don’t miss it. Don’t worry if you’ve never heard of this podcast before. It might be a better choice for you to listen to it without knowing anything about it!

See you there? I have to meet you there.

–June, Jason, and Paul

PS: It’s June again. Listen: Do I want to see a movie about the most evil troll doll I can imagine? Of course not. But the right to control my body and the rights of every woman, girl, trans, non-binary, and gender non-conforming person across the country is on the ballot this November, and it’s up to us to do everything we can to elect a president who will restore and protect abortion rights across the country. That’s Kamala Harris. And MoveOn has been mobilizing voters and winning elections for 25 years.

So let’s all hang in there, figure out what these trolls are up to, and in the meantime, help save democracy. Buy your tickets here now.
