Steelers’ 2024 Received Chart: Good, bad and ugly

MONews
9 Min Read

Today, I wanted to provide the other side of the coin on my quarter -back chart and to take a takeout for the Pittsburgh receiver in the 2024 regular and postseason.

Some notes before we jumped. Thank you to Thomas Mock for his great work, which helped to visually use visually use in this series. Spikes and clear throws are removed because they are the right situation determination with the hit pass of the Sri Miji line, which affects the intended pass position.

Let’s first look at the WR completion/Incomplete dot, and discuss the target, catch and catch ratio with the team rankings (7 qualifiers, at least 25 targets).

George Pickens-Charted-Targets: 106 (first). Catch: 65 (second). Catch-speed: 61.3 % (last).

Pickens, as you know, led the team aim. But the second is the lowest catch ratio of all stealers receivers with more than 25 chart targets in the catch. This pointed out that the team’s main downfield goal is visually, and the low ratio of that large amount will lose his path. 9 drops also became a problem (T-9th in the NFL).

Calvin Austin Chart Target: 58 (third). Catch: 37 (fifth). Catch-speed: 63.8 % (5th).

He had much more opportunities this season and doubled the chart goal he saw in 2023 (30). The quality is better throughout the season. Austin ranked Catch ranking and the relationship with QB Russell Wilson has improved from 56 %to 63.8 catch ratios. Next, I hope that Momentum will be carried in 2025, and the production of WR1 requires a boost.

Van jefferson-charted-targets: 42 (6th). Catch: 26 (6th). Catch-speed: 61.9 % (6th).

In other words, the third most target WR in Jefferson was more useful as a blocker and was mainly short -term goal. I hope that the 10 yards are not ideals overall, and the system/depth improvement can help the room to further challenge the defense.

Here is the heat map of completion: And the completion rate according to the pass distance continues.

There is a predictability of each, and the opposition party lost five games by the end of 2024. JEFFERSON’s 10 yards and roots of success.

Pickens-behind-the-line: 6/6 (100 %). 0-5 Air yards: 22/28 (78.6 %). 5-10 air yards: 21/34 (61.8 %). 10-15 Aerial yard: 4/13 (30.8 %). 15-20 Aerial yard: 2/9 (22.2 %). explosive: 17/32 (53.1 %).

The middle (10-20 yards) was an extreme struggle for Steelers Quarter bags with insufficient quantity. This is also very true for Pickens at the end of the reception. Improving this can be a bigger challenge to defend by grasping Wilson’s short or deep style. If you tap the tree, there is a change regardless of who is the quarterback in 2025.

Austin-Obesity-Line: 6/7 (85.7 %). 0-5 Air yards: 4/9 (44.4 %). 5-10 air yards: 13/16 (81.3 %). 10-15 Aerial yard: 5/7 (71.4 %). 15-20 Aerial yard: 4/6 (66.7 %). explosive: 7/15 (46.7 %).

They are quite strong in Austin, which was the exception of Pittsburgh, the exception of Pittsburgh. The 0-5 Air yard was an unfortunate improvement area. Last year, much better explosive results compared to abyss 14.3 catch ratios. I want another jump from the third grade.

JEFFERSON-Behind-The-Line: 2/2 (100 %). 0-5 Air yards: 12/17 (70.6 %). 5-10 air yards: 12/17 (70.6 %). 10-15 Aerial yard: 1/2 (50 %). 15-20 Aerial yard: 2/3 (66.7 %). explosive: 3/9 (33.3 %).

Once again, the number emphasizes the overall lack of explosive impacts, not a rare intermediate opportunity and a game of JEFFERSON.

Now, in the case of non-WRS, we start with dots and team rankings (8 qualifiers, at least 25-target).

TE PAT FREIERMUTH: Chart target: 77 (second). Microcycle: 67 (first). Catch-speed: 87 % (first).

Freiermuth was more involved in Pittsburgh’s crimes, leading Pittsburgh to catch and catch ratios. Overall, it was mostly less than 10 yards, and after that mark, all incomplete was between the numbers. This position is rarely used in more than 20 air yards, and as Freiermuth can be seen from the most successful NFL crimes, it is an unexplored resource that requires more opportunities.

RB jaylen warRen: Chart Target: 50 (T-4). Catch: 43 (third). Catch speed: 86 % (second).

The position was mainly used as a checkdown option of QBS throughout the league, and Warren was a more reliable person for Pittsburgh in 2024. Most of them were less than five air yards, but they had more than five goals.

RB Najee Harris: Chart Target: 50 (T-4). Catch: 39 (fourth). Catch speed: 78 % (fourth).

Harris tied Warren as a chart target and was tied only after Piken and Premier. We had a worse catch ratio and 8 percentage points worse. This included all the goals of less than 5 yards and the focus drops despite the incomplete incomplete subject behind the line.

TE DARNELL WASHINGTON: Chart Target: 25 (Last). Catch: 20 (last). Catch-speed: 80 % (third).

Washington finally ranked in the second season, but his participation has more than doubled the rookie (10 goals, seven catches). Like Freiermuth, most of them are less than 10 air yards. He contributed great things in the middle, but he had only one explosive air yard goal.

Now, the hit map and pass distance for completion are now completed:

As mentioned earlier, the chart is quite dark overall. Of course, the wide receiver chart is much more diverse, but the predictions are reduced and the influence of the TE around the site can be amazing in 2025.

Freeiermuth-behind-the-line: 4/4 (100 %). 0-5 Air yards: 43/47 (91.5 %). 5-10 air yards: 20/24 (83.3 %). 10-15 Aerial yard: 8/13 (61.5 %). 15-20 Aerial yard: 5/7 (71.4 %). explosive: 1/1 (100 %).

More than 60 % of Stella ratio is impressive. More than 80 air yards, 10-15 is an area for improving hope.

Warren-behind-the-line: 17/20 (85 %). 0-5 Air yards: 26/28 (92.9 %). 5-10 air yards: 1/2 (50 %). 10-15 Aerial yard: 0/0. 15-20 Aerial yard: 0/1 (0 %). explosive: 0/0.

It’s a great check -up result, but it’s over 5 yards and connects to one of the three goals.

Harris-hehind-line: 21/29 (72.4 %). 0-5 Air yards: 18/21 (85.7 %). 5-10 air yards: 0/1 (0 %). 10-15 Aerial yard: 0/0. 15-20 Aerial yard: 0/0. explosive: 0/0.

Overall, the score that is lower than Warren is not well done considering that the team can proceed.

Washington-Obesity: 2/3 (66.7 %). 0-5 Air yards: 14/15 (93.3 %). 5-10 air yards: 2/4 (50 %). 10-15 Aerial yard: 2/3 (66.7 %). 15-20 Aerial yard: 1/1 (100 %). explosive: 0/1 (0 %).

The 0-5 air yard was almost perfect, and most of his opportunity, the top speed of the team behind the line and the reasonable volume was mostly. It will be interesting to see how the use of 2025 with the entire Steelers.

Many questions remain at the beginning of the offseason. One thing to do is have to give something about how the 2024 season is over. I am discouraged to see how far from the NFL of today’s NFL.

Steelers first had a way to work with a strong defense spirit. In order to end this year, the painful five -stripes for strong teams will strengthen the pass game for a long time to compensate for more.
