Colbert said Trump said, “I’m fine. I don’t know if the public will tolerate this. I’m not sure the public will support this. “I think it will be difficult for the public to accept.”

The Late Show host responded:Oh, it must be hard for the ‘public’. actually, I happened to majority of the public here. Hey people, what are you all doing? “Do you think Trump will go to jail?”

The audience chanted, “Lock him up!” Lock him up! Lock him up! Lock him up! Lock him up! Lock him up! Lock him up! Lock him up! Lock him up! Lock him up!”

Colbert said, “Ladies and gentlemen, I get it. I didn’t say, “Lock him up.” They said, “Lock him up.”

It’s baffling that Trump continues to believe he has all this massive public support when the reality is otherwise. Trump failed to have fans attend the trial. Trump continued to promise a large-scale popular uprising, but it never developed.

At some point, even Trump has to realize that he’s not as popular as he thinks he is.
