Retired NFL great Steve Smith, whose 14,731 receiving yards are eighth-most in league history, attended the New York Giants’ OTA session on Thursday and imparted some advice to Big Blue’s young receiving team.

“He’s here. He came in. He came here last year too. We have a good relationship with him. Joe and I come out to watch practice. I think he’s a good sounding board for some of the young guys, especially some of the young receivers.” “I think so.” “So he’s going to be here for a few days, obviously Joe was in Carolina and I know him a lot, the way he plays. I have respect for that person too last year.

“We have young receivers. Again, he played for a long time and was very successful. We have a good relationship with him. “I’m so happy for him.”

Smith, a five-time Pro Bowler and three-time All-Pro who played most of his career with the Carolina Panthers, traces his roots back to Giants general manager Joe Schoen, who began his NFL career with the Panthers in 2001.

After retiring in 2016, Smith became an analyst for the NFL Network and has since broadcast on a variety of platforms.
