Stuart Pearce says certain players are ‘truly vital’ to LFC.

Stuart Pearce has stressed how important Trent Alexander-Arnold is to Arnold Slot’s side, describing the Reds ace as ‘absolutely essential’.

Alexander-Arnold has been a Liverpool supporter since childhood, joining the club at the age of six.

Having come through the club’s academy, the England international is now recognised as one of the world’s best full-backs and has won every major trophy possible in the red shirt.

Despite being such a vital player for the team, the 25-year-old’s current contract is now entering its final 12 months and the club must urgently review the matter if they want to keep the right-back.

Pearce told talkSPORT: Call up the cop): “He almost got the symptoms when I saw him. I think Liverpool and their fans had this synergy and Klopp got that. He managed the club, understood the fans and did that kind of thing.

“When you look at Liverpool’s line-up and the players, Trent looks like a local lad. He knows the club, he’s been there a long time. He’s really important to what they do. Watching him play now, I think he’s really enjoying his football. He really does.”

Our team’s number 66 player is going into the game with confidence knowing that he is currently one of our team’s most important players.

His ability to break down defences with his world-class passing ability is on a different level to other full-backs in the Premier League and we are very lucky to have him in our team.

But the fact that his contract expires at the end of the season is a major concern. He has remained tight-lipped about his future beyond the summer, and it will be up to Richard Hughes and Co. to sort things out.
