Tae Hayes’ short-lived career with the Jets is over.

The Jets released a 26-year-old cornerback Monday after he was arrested in Alabama on Sunday morning on a marijuana possession charge, according to the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office.

Hayes, who stands 5-foot-9 and 188 pounds, was booked and released on $300 bond. The Jets later released a statement saying, “We are aware of the situation and will not comment further as this is a pending legal matter.”

The issue is no longer a concern for the Jets.

Hayes was signed to the practice squad on October 3 and was promoted in Week 6 against the Eagles, recording two tackles.

He originally signed with the Jaguars in 2019 as an undrafted free agent out of Appalachian State and also played for the Dolphins, Panthers, Patriots, Vikings and Ravens. In total, he appeared in 14 career games, recording 18 tackles, one fumble recovery, and two passes defensed.

He played at Decatur High School in Alabama and was a star defensive back at Appalachian State University.

He signed a reserve/future contract with the Jets in January and was expected to compete for a roster spot.
