Christmas in Macau will be a tennis celebration.

captain Lina (pictured above) and michael jang has selected its squad for the 2024 MGM Macau Tennis Masters, which will host Asia’s first mixed team format tournament.

The exhibition event will be held for two days, December 24th and 25th. Li Na and Michael Chang were selected to the team among three standout players on the ATP and WTA tours, respectively.

On the other side, team michael jang star Andrei Rublev, Karolina Muchova, and Lorenzo Musetti.

Play kicks off at 1pm on Tuesday 24 December with the Captain’s Challenge, followed by the first men’s singles match with Casper Ruud taking on Lorenzo Musetti. Their head-to-head record is currently 1-1, setting the stage for an exciting showdown.

Next, there will be a match between Andrei Rublev and Shang Juncheng. The two have clashed once before on regular tours, with Rublev coming out on top in Hong Kong. Rounding out the first day will be an exciting mixed doubles match as Shang teams up with Wang Xinyu to take on Rublev and Karolina Muchova.

Next up is another interesting men’s singles match as Casper Ruud takes on Andrey Rublev. Their rivalry tilted in Rublev’s favor with a head-to-head record of 5-3.

The final match of the event will be a blockbuster clash between Shang Juncheng and Lorenzo Musetti. Shang leads the tour-level series 1-0 after defeating the Italian in the final of the Chengdu Open earlier this year.

“I think it’s going to be an incredible few days at the MGM Macau Tennis Masters and I’m really looking forward to making plans to take on Michael’s team,” said Li Na. “I am very happy to have two great Chinese players, Juncheng and Xinyu, on my side, and it will be great to have a player like Casper join us.”

Widely known for his play as one of the fastest thinkers on the court, Chang will no doubt have his acumen tested in this unique format.

“We will be ready for whatever Li Na and her team do,” said Michael Chang. “I’m very happy with the players I have. And I know they will give it everything they have.

“Our players have had a lot of success in Asia and are comfortable playing here, so we are ready for the challenge.”
