Vice President Kamala Harris spent 107 days unifying the Democratic Party and launching her presidential campaign. She made history as the first Black and South Asian woman to be nominated as a major party candidate. And her groundbreaking campaign was powered by Black women and other leading women of color who came out en masse to donate, organize, volunteer, and vote.
We will not allow their sacrifice, effort, and hope to be erased in this darkness. Add their name to say thank you and to keep fighting.
Why is this important?
Vice President Harris has faced repeated spews of hate, vitriol, and threats from Donald Trump, JD Vance, and MAGA Republicans. She did so because she believed in the promise of this country, its joy, its community, and the power of unity to overcome fear and division.
Our movement is and always has been more than just one election. Our fight to expose the racism, white supremacy and misogyny that underpins this country, to stand up to powerful and wealthy elites, to resist the hatred that seeks to isolate and divide us, and instead to dream and chart a better path. continues.
It continues thanks to the tireless efforts of the movement leaders who came before us and those of today: everyday people who endured the worst of this country’s circumstances and still believed in each other and the possibilities of the future. This is the possibility that Kamala Harris instilled – the hope she inspired in the millions of people who saw themselves and their loved ones in her campaign, and the spark she ignited in the 67 million who voted for the future we still deserve. It continues because it was built.
Progress does not happen overnight and is often met with backlash. Thank you to Kamala Harris, Black women, and other women of color who faced backlash in this election. Who pushed forward? And you remind us that our families and communities are always worth fighting for.
We will keep fighting.
thank you
